In 1892, Housman was appointed as a Professor of Latin at University College London. He served in this role until 1911, when he retired due to health problems. During his time at UCL, Housman published several scholarly works on Latin literature, including a critical edition of the works of Juvenal and a commentary on the poetry of Horace.
