Answer
The answer is Edward. Edward VIII, also known as David, was the eldest son of King George V and Queen Mary. He became king upon his father's death in 1936, but abdicated the throne the same year to marry American socialite Wallis Simpson, whose twice-divorced status was controversial at the time. His younger brother, Albert, succeeded him as King George VI.
