Mihajlo Pupin was born in Idvor, Vojvodina, Austrian Empire (now Serbia). He was a Serbian-American inventor, physicist, electrical engineer, and diplomat. He is best known for his work on the development of the telephone and his work on the transatlantic telegraph cable.
