A.J. Cronin is the pen name of Archibald Joseph Cronin, a Scottish physician, author and screenwriter. He is best known for his 1937 novel The Citadel, which was adapted into a 1938 film starring Robert Donat. Cronin's other novels include The Stars Look Down, The Green Years, The Keys of the Kingdom and The Physician.
