A. S. Byatt is the pen name of Dame Antonia Susan Duffy, an English novelist and academic. She is known for her novels Possession, The Children's Book, and The Biographer's Tale, as well as her short stories and critical essays. Byatt was awarded the Booker Prize for Fiction in 1990 for Possession, and she was made a Dame Commander of the Order of the British Empire in 2007.
