Adenan Satem was the predecessor of Abang Johari as the Chief Minister of Sarawak. Adenan Satem served as the Chief Minister of Sarawak from 2014 until his death in 2017. He was a member of the Sarawak United People's Party (SUPP). Abang Johari succeeded Adenan Satem as the Chief Minister of Sarawak in 2017.
