Abbas II was the Shah of Iran from 1642 to 1666, the ninth ruler of the Safavid dynasty. He was the son of Shah Safi I and his favorite concubine, Khadijeh Begum. Abbas II was a capable ruler and he managed to expand the Safavid empire and bring it to a new golden age.
