Abdul Muis was a journalist, author, and politician who played a significant role in the Indonesian independence movement. He was born in West Sumatra in 1890 and studied law at the University of Leiden in the Netherlands. After graduating, he returned to Indonesia and worked as a journalist for several newspapers. He also wrote several books, including the autobiography "Critique of the Colonial System" (1929).
