Answer
Jihad, as advocated by Azzam, is a spiritual struggle against sin. It is not a physical struggle against unbelievers, but a struggle within oneself to overcome one's own weaknesses and temptations. Azzam believed that the true jihad was the struggle to live a righteous life in accordance with the teachings of Islam. He believed that Muslims should focus on their own spiritual development and not worry about fighting against unbelievers.
