Maktab al-Khidamat (MAK) was a global jihadist organization founded by Abdullah Azzam and Osama bin Laden. MAK was based in Peshawar, Pakistan, and served as a training camp and base of operations for jihadists from around the world who were fighting in the Soviet–Afghan War. In 1989, after the Soviet withdrawal from Afghanistan, MAK was disbanded and its members were absorbed into other jihadist organizations, including al-Qaeda.
