Osmanoğlu was the family name of Abdulmejid II, the last Ottoman Sultan. The Osmanoğlu dynasty ruled the Ottoman Empire for over six centuries, from its foundation in 1299 to its dissolution in 1922. Abdulmejid II ascended to the throne in 1922, but his reign was short-lived as the empire was abolished the following year.
