Answer
First Lady is the unofficial title given to the wife of the incumbent president of the United States. Abigail Adams was the wife of John Adams, who was the second president of the United States, serving from 1797 to 1801. However, the term "First Lady" was not coined until much later, in the late 1800s, and was not officially recognized until the early 1900s.
