Born in Griva, Latvia in 1865, Rabbi Avraham Yitzchak HaKohen Kook went on to become one of the most influential Jewish thinkers of the 20th century. A prominent rabbi, philosopher, and kabbalist, Kook served as the first Ashkenazi Chief Rabbi of British Mandatory Palestine from 1921 until his passing in 1935.
