Abu Ubayda ibn al-Jarrah was a prominent Muslim military commander during the Rashidun Caliphate. He died of plague in 639 AD, during the Battle of Yarmouk. The plague had been brought to the region by Byzantine soldiers, and it quickly spread to the Muslim army. Abu Ubayda was one of many Muslims who died from the disease.
