Admir Mehmedi was born in Germany, where he grew up in the town of Herford. His parents are ethnic Albanians from Macedonia. Mehmedi began his career with Hertha BSC before moving to Borussia Mönchengladbach in 2011. He made his Bundesliga debut in 2012 and has since established himself as a key player for the club.
