When did Galland first plan air cover for Operation Cerberus?

  • January 1942

  • July 1941

  • December 1941

  • June 1942

Answer

Operation Cerberus was a German naval operation to break out of the British blockade of the French port of Brest in February 1942. Luftwaffe general Adolf Galland first planned air cover for the operation in January of that year. The plan was for 50 fighters to provide cover for the German ships as they sailed through the English Channel, but this was later reduced to 30 fighters.
