Adolf Windaus was born in 1876 in Göttingen, Germany. He was a German chemist who won the Nobel Prize in Chemistry in 1928 for his work on the structure of cholesterol and other sterols. He also made important contributions to the study of the structure of vitamin D and other steroids.
