Navvab Safavi was the leader of the group responsible for Ahmad Kasravi's assassination. Safavi was a religious cleric who was opposed to Kasravi's secularism and views on Islam. He was also a member of the Fadayan-e Islam, a militant group that was opposed to the Pahlavi dynasty. On March 7, 1946, Safavi and his followers assassinated Kasravi in Tehran.
