Ahmad Kasravi was despised by pan-Turkists in the Republic of Azerbaijan and Iran because he was against pan-Turkism. Pan-Turkism is the idea that all Turkic-speaking peoples should be united in a single state. Kasravi believed that this idea was harmful and that it would lead to conflict between different Turkic groups. He also believed that it was wrong to try to impose a single Turkic culture on all Turkic peoples.
