Ahmed Hassan al-Bakr was born on July 1, 1914. He was a military officer and politician who served as the second President of Iraq from 1968 to 1979. He was also the leader of the Ba'ath Party from 1968 to 1979. Al-Bakr was born in a village in Tikrit, Iraq. He joined the Iraqi military in 1932 and rose through the ranks.
