The Artuqid Dynasty, of which Ismail al-Jazari was a part, was a prominent Muslim dynasty that ruled in southeastern Anatolia, northern Syria, and northern Iraq during the Seljuk period. Founded by Artuq ibn Ekber in the late 11th century, the dynasty established several regional principalities which lasted until the late 15th century.
