Al-Masudi was a historian and geographer of the 10th century who is considered one of the greatest historians in the Islamic world. He was born in Baghdad in 895 and died in 956. He is best known for his book Muruj al-Dhahab wa Ma'adin al-Jawhar, which is a comprehensive history of the world from the creation to the 10th century.
