The UMP, or Union for a Popular Movement, was a center-right political party in France led by Alain Juppé from 2002 to 2004. It was formed in 2002 through the merger of several center-right parties, including Juppé's Rally for the Republic (RPR). The UMP was the main opposition party to President Jacques Chirac's government during Juppé's tenure as leader.
