Who succeeded Alan Brooke as CIGS?

John Harding succeeded Alan Brooke as CIGS in 1946. He had been the Deputy CIGS since 1943, and had a long and distinguished military career, which included service in the First World War, and the Second World War. He was made a Field Marshal in 1946, and retired from the Army in 1948.
