Who forced the partition of Galloway?

  • Alexander II

  • Henry III

  • John of England

  • David I

Answer

Alexander II, King of Scotland, enforced the partition of Galloway in 1234. The Galloway region, previously ruled by the independent Lords of Galloway, was divided into three parts: the western portion became the Earldom of Carrick, the eastern portion the Earldom of Wigtown, and the central portion was retained by the Crown as the Lordship of Galloway.
