Alan Wace was born on July 13, 1879. He was a British archaeologist and classical scholar who is best known for his work on the excavation of Mycenae in Greece. Wace also excavated other sites in Greece, including Sparta and Corinth. He was a professor at the University of Cambridge and the director of the British School at Athens.
