The Confederations Cup is an international association football tournament that is held between national teams of the six continental confederations, as well as the current World Cup holder. The tournament was first held in 1992 as the King Fahd Cup, and was renamed in 2005. It is contested every four years, in the year preceding the FIFA World Cup.
