Aleksey Pisemsky died on 2 February 1881. He was a Russian playwright and novelist. Pisemsky was born in Moscow, Russia, on 16 March 1821. He was the son of a civil servant. Pisemsky studied law at Moscow University, but he did not graduate. He worked as a civil servant for a few years, but he eventually gave up his job to become a writer.
