Alexander A. Arnold, in addition to his political career, was also a livestock breeder. He owned a large farm in which he raised horses, cattle, and sheep. He also served as president of the American Hereford Association and the American Angus Association. Arnold was a strong advocate for the development of new breeds of livestock and for the improvement of existing breeds.
