Alexander Meigs Haig Jr., commonly known as Al Haig, was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on December 2, 1924. He was a four-star general in the United States Army and served as the 64th Secretary of State from 1981 to 1982. Haig was also the 24th Chief of Staff of the United States Army from 1974 to 1977 and the 16th Supreme Allied Commander Europe from 1979 to 1981.
