Answer

Fort Chipewyan was the name of the first trading post built by the Hudson's Bay Company in what is now the Northwest Territories of Canada. It was founded in 1788 by the Scottish explorer Alexander Mackenzie and was named after the Chipewyan First Nation who lived in the area. The fort was located on the shore of Lake Athabasca and served as a major trading post for the fur trade.
