Junimea was a literary society founded in 1863 by Titu Maiorescu and other Romanian intellectuals. The society was based on the principle of Realism and opposed the Romanticism that was popular at the time. Junimea's members included many of the leading figures in Romanian literature, such as Ion Creangă, Mihai Eminescu, and Ion Luca Caragiale.
