Alexei Kosygin died in 1980. He was a Soviet politician who served as the chairman of the Council of Ministers of the Soviet Union from 1964 to 1980. He was a close ally of Nikita Khrushchev and helped to implement the de-Stalinization reforms. After Khrushchev was ousted from power, Kosygin became the Soviet premier and oversaw a period of economic stagnation. He died in 1980 at the age of 75.
