Alfonso V of Aragon, the King of Aragon, Sicily and Naples from 1416 until his death, died on 27 June 1458. He was born in Valencia, Spain, in 1388 and was the son of John I of Aragon and Eleanor of Castile. Alfonso V was a successful military leader and conquered Naples in 1442. He was also a patron of the arts and founded the University of Valencia in 1438.
