Who succeeded Deakin as Prime Minister in September 1903?

  • Edmund Barton

  • Bob Hawke

  • Julia Gillard

  • Alfred Deakin himself

Answer

Alfred Deakin succeeded himself as Prime Minister in September 1903. This was after the Protectionist Party split and Deakin's supporters formed the Liberal Party. The Protectionist Party was then led by George Reid, who became Prime Minister for a brief period. Deakin was able to re-form a government with the support of the Labor Party, and he remained Prime Minister until 1904.
