The Dayton Accords were signed by Alija Izetbegović, the President of Bosnia and Herzegovina, in 1995. The Accords recognized Republika Srpska as an autonomous entity within Bosnia, and also established a multi-ethnic government for the country. The Accords were the result of the Dayton Peace Talks, which were held to end the Bosnian War.
