Almazbek Atambayev served as the president of Kyrgyzstan from 2011 to 2017. During his time in office, he oversaw the country's transition to a parliamentary republic and introduced a number of reforms, including a new constitution and a new electoral law. Atambayev also played a key role in resolving the Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan border dispute and in negotiating a peace agreement between Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan.
