Sweden awarded Alva Myrdal the Nobel Peace Prize in 1982 for her work on disarmament and peace. Myrdal was a Swedish sociologist, diplomat, and politician who served as Sweden's Minister for Disarmament from 1966 to 1973. She was also a member of the United Nations Disarmament Commission from 1962 to 1973.
