Amos Alonzo Stagg coached the football teams of Springfield College, the University of Chicago, and the College of the Pacific. He was the first head coach of the University of Chicago football team, and he led the team to five undefeated seasons and three national championships. He also coached the College of the Pacific football team, and he led the team to a national championship in 1937.
