The Treaty of Batum was signed between the Russian Empire and the Ottoman Empire in 1918. It was one of the treaties that ended World War I. The treaty ceded Kars, Ardahan, and Batum to the Ottoman Empire. Andranik Ozanian, an Armenian revolutionary, refused to accept the treaty because he felt that it limited the amount of Armenian land. He believed that Armenia should have all of its historic territory.
