Andrei Karlov, born on February 4, 1954, was a Russian diplomat who served as Russia's Ambassador to Turkey from 2013 until his assassination in 2016. A career diplomat, Karlov had previously held various diplomatic positions in North Korea, South Korea, and Denmark.
