Andronikos I Komnenos was an emperor of the Byzantine Empire from 1183 to 1185. He was deposed and executed after a series of political and military disasters, including the loss of Constantinople to the Fourth Crusade. He was tortured and killed in January 1185, after which his body was dragged through the streets of Constantinople and thrown into the sea.
