Anne is the English name of Anna Ioannovna, a Russian Empress. She ruled the Russian Empire from 1730 to 1740. She was the second daughter of Ivan V, and the niece of Peter the Great. Anna was brought up in the Russian court, and she was married to Prince Frederick William of Courland in 1710.
