Antinous lived in the 2nd century AD, during the reign of Emperor Hadrian. He was born in Bithynia, a province of the Roman Empire, and was a handsome young man. Hadrian took a liking to him and made him his lover. Antinous accompanied Hadrian on his travels throughout the empire, and he was even deified after his death.
