Antinous was a Greek youth, the lover of the Roman emperor Hadrian. After Antinous's death in the Nile in 130 AD, Hadrian founded the city of Antinoopolis in Egypt in his honor, and established an annual games in commemoration of Antinous. The games took place in Antinoopolis and Athens.
