Answer
The revival of the current city of Anuradhapura started earnestly in the 1870s. The city had been largely abandoned after the 10th century, but in the 1870s, the British colonial government began to restore some of the city's ancient monuments. This work continued into the 20th century, and today, Anuradhapura is a major tourist destination.
