Which writing system did Evans first identify at Knossos?

  • Cuneiform

  • Linear A

  • Hieroglyphics

  • Alphabet

Answer

Linear A, the answer to my previous prompt, is a still undeciphered writing system used in ancient Crete during the Bronze Age. Sir Arthur Evans first identified it in 1900 at the archaeological site of Knossos, the center of the Minoan civilization. Linear A preceded the more well-known Linear B, which was used to record the Mycenaean Greek language.
