Arthur Percival was in service during the First and Second World Wars. He fought in the First World War in the British Indian Army, and later fought in the Second World War as the British commander of the Malayan Campaign. He was captured by the Japanese in Singapore in 1942, and spent the rest of the war as a prisoner of war.
