Arthur Seyss-Inquart was an Austrian Nazi politician and one of the most prominent leaders of Nazi Germany in Austria. He joined the Austrian Nazi Party in 1931 and was appointed as Chancellor of Austria in 1938. In this position, he was responsible for the annexation of Austria into Nazi Germany. He was also a member of the Schutzstaffel (SS), with the rank of SS-Obergruppenführer.
