Assata Shakur, also known as Joanne Deborah Chesimard, is listed on the FBI's Most Wanted list for her alleged involvement in the 1973 killing of New Jersey State Trooper Werner Foerster. She was a member of the Black Liberation Army and is considered a political activist by some. After her conviction, she escaped from prison and fled to Cuba, where she has been granted political asylum.
